Fun Activities for Teaching Chinese New Year This year, Chinese New Year takes place on Saturday, January 25th. TeacherVision Advisory Board Member Olivia shares everything you need to know about this holiday, and includes fun resources for celebrating it with your students. by Olivia Bechtel As teachers come back to school after the holiday break, it can be easy to forget that a very important holiday is celebrated in Chinese culture shortly after. Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival is an extremely valued event within Chinese culture. If you are planning on teaching your students about Chinese New Year, and celebrating it with them, the information and resources in this blog post have everything that you need to plan your lesson. What Is Chinese New Year? When Does It Take Place? While it may not align with the Gregorian calendar which most of the world follows, it is considered the first day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. The calendar is based on a traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar whose dates indicate both the phase of the moon and the time of the solar year. Given that a lunar month is about two days shorter than a solar month, an extra month is added to “catch up” every few years, which is why Chinese New Year is celebrated on a different day each year. Typically, the celebration starts on New Year’s Eve of the Chinese lunisolar calendar, and lasts about 15 days through the middle of the first month. Prior to the celebration, people typically cleanse their homes thoroughly and display traditional New Year’s decorations. The decorations often include large amounts of the color red, the most popular being upside down fu, dui lian, lanterns, year paint, papercutting, and door gods. How Is the Chinese New Year Celebrated? This is considered a time for family reunion and is the most important part of the celebration. Many families have a reunion dinner on Chinese New Year’s Eve, specifically with family members who are far from home. The two main dishes served are fish and dumplings which are meant to signify prosperity, the remaining dishes are based on personal preference. Fireworks are launched after 12:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to celebrate the coming of the New Year and to drive away the evil. Some families participate in “Shou Shi” which means “after the New Year’s Eve dinner” by staying awake during the night, others stay up until midnight after the fireworks. This is based on the legends of a mythical beast named “Year” which would come out to harm people, animals, and properties at the night of New Year’s Eve. The beast “Year” is afraid of the color red, fire, and loud sounds, which is why people launch fireworks, light fires, and stay awake the whole night to fend it off. Families sometimes choose to do “red packets” which are red envelopes with money in it ranging from one to a few thousand yen, typically given to young children by adults and the elderly. It is believed that the money in the red packet will suppress evil and keep the children healthy, giving them a long life. What Can I Do To Teach Chinese New Year? Do You Know What to Do If You Fail a Test in College

Worried that you failed a test in college? Youre not alone, and fortunately, failing a test in college doesnt necessarily mean youre  going to ruin your GPA. To handle the problem directly, assess the situation, determine what went wrong, and then follow up with your professor to see if any options are available. Failed an Exam in College? Often, when walking out of an exam, youll have a gut feeling of what didnt go well. Immediately sit down and reflect on the experience. First, determine if you understood the material. If you did, then assess your test-taking environment. A noisy room, a temperature that was off, or lack of supplies could impact your scores. Similarly, distractions from your own life or not getting enough sleep or a good breakfast can impact your ability to succeed. On the flip side, if you felt unprepared for the test, break that down. Perhaps you  studied  the wrong material or did not study enough. Be realistic in your assessment and take stock of what you can do better next time.  Ã‚   Whatever your difficulties were, make note of them. You can review these notes yourself and determine if reviewing them with your professor or TA might be useful. If you simply made a mistake and were not prepared or fit for taking the test, learn from the experience and use this situation to help you better prepare for the next exam you have to take.   Assess the Damage Failing a test in college can feel like a major disaster, but consider the impact this one exam has on your overall grade. If the exam is one of several throughout the semester or a year-long course, ask yourself how truly damaging this one grade will be for you. Most professors offer a syllabus that outlines the weight of each assessment within the overall grading structure, which can help you determine what your next steps should be. Take the time to understand why you didnt perform well, so review the notes you took after you left the exam room and see if you can find correlations. If you determine that this one exam can make or break your course grade, then schedule a time to meet with your professor or TA.   If youre not sure if  you failed, or simply feel like you may not have aced it how  you wanted to, simply relax and see what your score actually is before running to your professor. You may have done better than you expected, and you dont want your professor thinking you havent mastered the material before she even reviews it. If you know you completely missed the mark, then its time to talk to your professor. Talk to Your Professor or TA ASAP If youd like to reach out to your professor before you receive your scores, you could  send an email or leave a voicemail asking to speak. Perhaps you didnt feel like you grasped the material as well as you should have, or you feel that you didnt perform well within the given test format, and youd like to talk. This way, if you actually did okay, you arent telling the professor you thought you failed — just that youd like to better master the material or better demonstrate your mastery. And if the test didnt go quite as you had hoped, youve set the stage to perhaps get additional assistance or have a chance to make up the grade. If youre someone who typically understands the material but often doesnt perform well on exams, you should still reach out to your professor or TA. You may wish to make a visit during office hours. Dont be afraid to be honest. You can just start off by saying that you dont think your score is going to reflect your understanding of the material and go from there. Your professor may offer you another option to demonstrate that you do understand what was covered in the exam — or they may not. The professors response is their own choice, but at least youve presented your concerns about your performance on the test itself and asked for assistance. Explain Any Special Circumstances Were you suffering from a horrible head cold you thought you could work through? Did something with your family pop up? Did your computer crash during the exam? What the room too cold for you to properly concentrate? Let your professor or TA know that there were special circumstances, but only if there truly were, and only if you think they really had an effect. You want to present a reason why you did poorly, not an excuse. Repeated instances of special circumstances may reflect poorly on you  as well, so carefully assess if the extenuating circumstance was really an issue that affected your grade. The Bottom Line You cant guarantee that your grade can be changed or that your TA will believe your reasons for doing poorly on the test. Unfortunately, your professor isnt always going to give you another shot. Bad scores happen, and when they do, you need to accept that you didnt perform well and move forward. Be prepared, follow the steps above, and have a game plan for what you will do if you do receive a poor score on the test. This way, you can know what you should do instead of simply panicking. The moral of the story is to make sure that you learn from the experience, and prepare yourself to perform better in the future.

Washington s War Within A War Essay - 879 Words

Washington’s war within a war While it is true that wars are fought and won with weapons and selfless sacrifice, it is also true that wars cannot be won on an empty stomach. Hunger can zap a solders moral, confidence, and he can find himself lacking the energy to even aim his rifle. This is a real threat to any company, or to any army. One might even say this could be a war within a war for the starving battalion that faced such adversity. They would be faced with the loss of muscle tissue, the inability to fight, think, let alone to defend a fort. Moral breaks down, some will desert, or commit mutiny as they lose faith in their commanding officers. During war, food can be taken for granted, more faith is put on the weapon you carry, the men you serve with. However, little thought is given to how truly important food and clean water can be until you have none. When it is gone, it’s all you can think of, thoughts drift to warm meals, clean clothes, clear cool water. Then one’s soul sinks into depress ion, the feeling of defeat, the temptation to give up and surrender just for a taste of some food. This is just the war that General George Washington and the continual army faced in the winter of 1777-1778 at Valley Forge. The Planning of Operation # 8220 ; Valkyrie # 8221 ; The plotters from the civilian and military opposition groups recognize that the military leading can non be induced to move in concert. They concentrate their attempts on extinguishing Hitler, deriving control of the military concatenation of bid, and presuming the duties of authorities in Germany. They make usage of programs developed for seting down civil perturbations and rebellions by the foreign slave labourers. These programs provide for intrusting executive power and military authorization to the commanding officer of the Reserve Army in such instances. The plotters alter these programs, code-named # 8220 ; Valkyrie, # 8221 ; several times, accommodating them to the several applicable conditions. With the assistance of the # 8220 ; Valkyrie # 8221 ; orders, they intend to derive control of cardinal authorities, Party, and Wehrmacht offices in Berlin so they can pave the manner for the putsch throughout Germany and at the forepart. Hitler # 8217 ; s Headquarters # 8220 ; Wolf # 8217 ; s Lair # 8221 ; near Rastenburg in East Prussia In the winter of 1940-41 instantly before the invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, Hitler establishes his new central office near Rastenburg. During the undermentioned old ages, extended sand trap systems are built, which are sealed off from the remainder of the universe by restricted countries. The extended woods of East Prussia, the Moors of the environing countryside, and the location of the central offices beyond lt ; /p > the scope of Allied bombers appear to offer the greatest possible step of protection. As German military personnels progress far into the Soviet Union, a 2nd Fhrer # 8217 ; s central office is established at Vinnitsa in the Ukraine. The importance of the # 8220 ; Wolf # 8217 ; s Lair # 8221 ; in Prussia additions as the Wehrmacht retreats, and the site becomes Hitler # 8217 ; s preferred location. When several efforts to extinguish Hitler by blackwash fail in 1943, the plotters decide to kill him here in the cardinal bastion of his power. The Assassination Attempt of July 20, 1944 Despite great troubles, Colonel Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg succeeds in build uping a bomb and seting it under a map tabular array in Hitler # 8217 ; s locality a few proceedingss before a briefing in the # 8220 ; Wolf # 8217 ; s Lair. # 8221 ; Stauffenberg is able to go forth the room without being noticed and observes the explosion from a safe distance. Unfortunate happenstances prevent the effort from wining, and Hitler survives. The heavy oak tabular array he is tilting over when the bomb explodes shields his organic structure. Yet Stauffenberg is convinced that his blackwash effort has been successful. Together with his aide and fellow plotter Werner von Haeften, he succeeds in go forthing the central office for Berlin within proceedingss of the detonation instantly before the country is sealed off. July 20, 1944, in the Bendler Block After the blackwash effort, valuable hours are lost in Berlin before the # 8220 ; Valkyrie # 8221 ; orders can be issued. Executive power is to be transferred to the commanding officer of the Reserve Army. Key bid centres and communicating installations must be occupied, and the SS units stationed in Berlin must be kept off from the centre of the confederacy on Bendlerstrasse. The plotters rely on Berlin # 8217 ; s metropolis commanding officer, a few friends in of import places, and Berlin # 8217 ; s head of constabulary. A few members of civilian opposition groups come to the Bendler Block. Even a few younger officers stationed in Potsdam assume maps here. They are joined by some other officers who have intentionally non been informed about the putsch during its initial stages but who follow the orders of the plotters. The Failure of the Coup Attempt of July 20, 1944 The plotters hope to be able to mobilise formations in Berlin and throughout Germany against the National Socialist leaders through normal bid channels. To make so, they require integral lines of communicating. Since Hitler has survived the bombardment, the plotters # 8217 ; assistants at Hitler # 8217 ; s central offices are non able to disrupt telephone and wireless communications with the outside universe for long. This puts Hitler, Himmler, Bormann, and Keitel in a place to publish revoking orders tardily in the afternoon that frustrate all the plotters # 8217 ; attempts. Many officers in cardinal places on Bendlerstrasse and in the military territories now cite their curse of commitment and remain loyal to Hitler. Friedrich Fromm, commanding officer of the Reserve Army, refuses to fall in the plotters. Late that flushing he orders the executing of the four chief plotters by a fire squad. After the Assassination Attempt After the unsuccessful blackwash effort, Hitler addresses the German populace in a wireless address. He depicts himself as an instrument of # 8220 ; Providence, # 8221 ; impeaching # 8220 ; a little coterie # 8221 ; of ambitious officers of holding committed lese majesty in their hungriness for power. The undermentioned yearss bring with them a profuseness of addresss affirming trueness. Entreaties, newspaper articles, and addresss are staged to stir up public sentiment throughout Germany. The purpose is to irreversibly transform the Wehrmacht into a pillar of National Socialist political orientation while neutralizing the influence of the officer corps. The propaganda shortly begins to take consequence. Histories of public morale give the feeling that Hitler is once more able to inflame renewed enthusiasm among the German people. While many bulletins are overdone, many Germans doubtless disapprove of the blackwash effort.

Reasons For a Slow LAN free essay sample

In this essay the writer discusses the slowing down of communication between workstations and other computers on the LAN. The following essay attempts to prove that networking hardware are incompatible and work at different speeds. The writer contends that these factors can also slow down the overall speed of the LAN. Random Access Memory hardware systems and Central Processing Unit hardware systems are made reference to. From the paper: ?On certain LAN configurations, such as the Bus and the Ring, an increase in the number of nodes, slows down the LAN. This is because Bus and Ring are designed in such a way that a data packet meant for a particular workstation, gets exclusive rights to the entire LAN cable. In other words, while a packet moves from its source to destination, no other packet is allowed on the network cable.?

Tips for Writing the UC Personal Statement Prompt #1

Tips for Writing the UC Personal Statement Prompt #1 Note The  article below is for the pre-2016 University of California application, and the suggestions are only marginally relevant for current applicants to the UC System. For tips on the new essay requirements, read this article:  Tips and Strategies for the 8 UC Personal Insight Questions. The pre-2016 UC personal statement prompt #1 stated, Describe the world you come from - for example, your family, community or school - and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. Its a question that every freshman applicant to one of the nine undergraduate UC campuses had to answer. Note that this question has much in common with the Common Application option #1 on your background and identity. Overview of the Question The prompt sounds simple enough. After all, if theres one subject you know something about, its the surroundings in which you live. But dont be fooled by how accessible the question appears to be. Admission to the University of California system is remarkably competitive, especially for some of the more elite campuses, and you should think carefully about the subtleties of the prompt. Before answering the question, consider the purpose of the essay. The admissions officers want to get to know you. The essays are the one place where you can truly present your passions and personality. Test scores, GPAs, and other quantitative data do not really tell the university who you are; instead, they show that you are a capable student. But what really makes you you? Each of the UC campuses receives far more applications than they can accept. Use the essay to show how you differ from all the other capable applicants. Breaking Down the Question The personal statement is, obviously, personal. It tells the admissions officers what you value, what gets you out of bed in the morning, what drives you to excel. Make sure your response to prompt #1 is specific and detailed, not broad and generic. To answer the prompt effectively, consider the following: World is a versatile term. The prompt gives your family, community and school as examples of possible worlds, but they are just three examples. Where is it that you truly live? What really makes up your world? Is it your team? The local animal shelter? Your grandmothers kitchen table? Your church? The pages of a book? Someplace where your imagination likes to wander?Focus on that word how. How has your world shaped you? The prompt is asking you to be analytical and introspective. It is asking you to connect your environment to your identity. It is asking you to project forward and imagine your future. The best responses to prompt #1 highlight your analytical abilities.Avoid the obvious. If you write about your family or school, its easy to focus on that teacher or parent who pushed you to excel. This isnt necessarily a bad approach to the essay, but make sure you provide enough specific details to paint a true portrait of yourself. Thousands of students could write an essay about how their supportive parents helped them succeed. Make sure your essay is about you and isnt something that thousands of other students could have written. Your world doesnt have to be a pretty place. Adversity sometimes shapes us more than positive experiences. If your world has been filled with challenges, feel free to write about them. You never want to sound like you are whining or complaining, but a good essay can explore how negative environmental forces have defined who you are.Stay on target. You have just 1,000 words with which to answer prompts #1 and #2. Thats not much space. Make sure every word you write is necessary. Keep these 5 essay tips in mind, follow these suggestions for improving your essays style, and cut anything in your essay that isnt defining your world and explaining how that world has defined you. A Final Word on the UC Essays For any essay on any college application, always keep the purpose of the essay in mind. The university is asking for an essay because it has holistic admissions. The UC schools want to know you as a whole person, not as a simple matrix of grades and standardized test scores. Make sure your essay makes a positive impression. The admissions folks should finish reading your essay thinking, This is a student we want to join our university community.

Parachute jump Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Parachute jump - Research Paper Example From the Newton laws of motion, a free fall is the motion which involves the weight of a body as the only body is the only force that acts against it. Gravitation was reduced to a time space curvature. Felix had no force acting against him and hence moved along a geodesic. Due to absence of any other forces, gravitation acted on him equally due to the relative weightlessness. In this condition the gravitation field is zero. Felix in the free fall experienced gravititation "0-g". The Newton’s law of universal gravitation simplifies the dynamical equations that describe the trajectories that result due to gravitational force under normal conditions as F = mg. This accounts for the assumption for objects falling to earth over relatively short vertical distances. It is however much untrue over larger distances. The equation ignores the air resistance that was involved that has an effect on falling objects within appreciable distance in air causing them to approach a terminal velocity quickly. The air resistance effect varied enormously due to the size of Felix. The equation ignores the rotation of the earth failing to describe the Coriolis effect (Heitzmann, 23) Near the surface of the Earth, g  =  9.8  m/s ². The assumption is that SI unit g is measured in mps therefore d has to be measured in meters and time t in seconds. Therefore, velocity v is measured in meters per seconds(Heitzmann, 26) Felix is assumed to have started from rest and air resistance was neglected. In the Earth’s atmosphere all results are inaccurate after the first five seconds of the fall. Felix’s velocity at the time should have been a little less than the vacuum vale of 49 m/s due to the resistance of air. As Felix was falling through the atmosphere (which is not a perfect vacuum) therefore, he did not encounter a drag force brought about by air resistance. The drag force should have increased the velocity of the free fall. Felix therefore reached a state where the drag force

Clinical Scenario with Structured Questions Essay

Clinical Scenario with Structured Questions - Essay Example A nurse’s aid who is also a second year nursing student at university saw the client , took his blood pressure which was found to be elevated at 185/112. His heart rate was rapid at 113 beats per minute. The clinical picture indicated that the man was most probably having a heart attack. The student / nurse called an ambulance. As per unit protocol an accident/incident form was filled. Chest pain is a common occurrence with older patients. In the Emergency Department, chest pain needs to be isolated as cardiac or non-cardiac in origin. Physical assessment and proper history taking is very important in identifying the type of chest pain the patient is experiencing. This will also help the health care provider prioritize the plan of care. Proper assessment and history taking through detailed interview could have helped greatly in avoiding errors and reducing incidence reporting. This also indicates that the quality of care is improving. Pain is a very subjective matter. McCaffre y defined pain as whatever the person experiencing pain says it is, existing whenever the person communicates or demonstrates it does (McCaffrey, 1986). Chest pain is one of the most common complaints in emergency departments of hospitals and acute care centers, so common that immediate evaluation and correct diagnosis is very important in the patient’s survival. The situation describes a 44 year old Anglo-Saxon male client presenting with crushing chest pain. History shows long term use of alcohol, obesity, diabetic with insulin infusion, diaphoresis and shortness of breath. The Registered Nurse who first assessed the patient missed critical information such as taking the vital signs of the patient. Vital signs, particularly blood pressure is very important in the assessment of pain. Increased blood pressure usually indicates severe pain (Cox). High blood pressure and tachycardia are symptoms of a heart attack. These symptoms plus the crushing chest pain, diaphoresis and s hortness of breath are warning signs of heart attack and is should be considered a medical emergency. Clinical Governance Clinical governance is a term used by the National Health Service to describe a systematic approach in maintaining high standards of care and aims to continually improve the quality of services delivered in the clinical practice environment. Clinical governance is defined as a framework which helps all clinicians – including nurses – to continuously improve quality and safeguard standards of care (Royal College of Nursing). The role of clinical governance in this situation is to correct any mistakes that the drug and alcohol detoxification unit failed to detect. The purpose of clinical governance is to maintain and improve standards of patient care. In this scenario, it will improve the inadequate partenership between and among health care professionals dealing with the patient. It will also improve delivery of health care in other elements of clini cal governance such as education and training, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, research and development, openness and risk management. In education and training, the staff of the unit are equipped for drug and alcohol detoxification but they also need to continually update themselves with regards to medical cases in order for them to promptly idnetify life threatening symptoms such as mentioned in

Various other financial products like mutual funds etc. attract customers towards themselves. Banks are not able to exploit the technology to an appropriate level Banks is spending heavily on human resource department for monitoring following up of large no. of loan accounts. In the absence of proper follow-up, long term loans like housing loan which involves long repayment term can become NPAs. As compared to wholesale banking, the amount borrowed in retail banking by a single customer is very low. Therefore, the bank is not able to make huge profits from a single customer. STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS IN RETAIL BANKING Banks should adopt the following strategies to achieve success in the retail banking sector. Adoption of advanced latest technology Availability of skilled man power in all branches offices Extensive market research should be carried out in order to formulate innovative competitive products services Managing relationship with customers by having an approach of customer relationship management. There should be balanced and sustained growth in deposits advances More more delivery channels should be explored Service quality should be improved with human touch giving the customers personal experience Proper strategic cost management should be adopted Constant focus should be there on Universal banking and financial supermarkets Cross Selling of Products Public Sector Banks have a wide network of branches. This provides them with added advantage over other banks. Through these branches banks have an opportunity as they can sell third-party products. Tie Up arrangements Public, private foreign banks should tie up enter into strategic alliance with other banks to extend their reach by having presence in various other regions. This will help them by enabling them to make benefits by reaching customers across the country. Business Process Outsourcing Outsourcing of various processes will save time cost. Eventually this will help the banks in concentrating on their core business area, that is, their core competency. For ex- Managing ATMs should be outsourced, which will save banks from dealing with something which is not their core competency. CHALLENGES TO RETAIL BANKING IN INDIA The key challenges before the bank is to strike a balance between credit growth quality of asset simultaneously and sustaining the profitability in the increasing interest rate scenario. With the advancement in technology, there has been increase in the responsibilities challenges for an IT department in managing, maintaining optimizing the performance of retail banking networks. According to credit rating agency CARE, in 2010-11, the non performing assets (NPAs) in the industry are expected to rise to 3.5 % of the total assets as compared to previous fiscal years 2.8 %. Therefore, measures should be adopted to reduce NPA. As per the RBIs instructions, banks are required to provide for 70% of the total bad loans on their books from Sep 2010. The new Base rate is yet to be implemented which will ensure transparency in the lending but will reduce banks profits as they will then be able to lend at or above base rate not below it. This may affect banks as they may lose their some customers to whom the loan were given at below PLR. RBI has also asked banks to provide interest on savings accounts on daily basis. This will put pressure on margins of banks. RBI is adopting various measures to reduce liquidity. They have increased CRR also increased Repo reverse repo rate. All this will impact the lending rate of banks as the interest rate will rise to reduce liquidity in market. But this will be a threat to banking sector. At this time when interest rates are higher interest rate volatility exists, the Current Account Saving Account (CASA) deposits help banks maintaining their margins. These accounts helps in maintaining the spread between the cost of funds interest earned in a period of high interest rates. In recent past, the outsourcing of various activities such as software hardware maintenance, entire ATM operation (including cash, refilling) etc. has become very important. The banks should have innovative strategic management approach to meet its customers needs requirements in terms of products or services. It is generally said that, it takes months to find a good customer but only seconds to lose him. Therefore, banks should have the strategy of Knowing Your Customer (KYC). To retain the ongoing trust of the public reputation, banks are supposed to meet their commitments take utmost care while serving their customers. In order to increase the market share profitability in the retail banking corporate banking, the customer loyalty is very important. As per the government order, banks have to align their accounting practices in line with the IFRS (International Financial Reporting System) within 2 more years. Limited no. of branches ATMs in rural areas. Less education or training is given to the people in rural areas who are illiterate dont know how to do avail the basic benefits from banking, forget about operating ATMs. If all these challenges are faced by the banks with utmost care and deliberation, the retail banking is expected to play a very crucial role in coming years. CONCLUSION Since the reforms in financial sector in India, Retail banking is facing a lot of competition. Today banks are on their toes for sustaining in existing business capturing new business. Banks are competing for increasing their retail business. Constant innovation should be there in retail banking in areas product development differentiation, marketing, micro-planning, prudent pricing, technological up gradation, customization, home / electronic / mobile banking, asset liability management effective risk management and t techniques. But in the Indian banks, there is very less little or no interest in innovative products. Innovation should not only in terms of technology or through internet or computers but it should be such that it benefits even the rural areas. You cant just really on technology become a tech savvy in a country where Internet penetration is only 1.65%. While retail banking offers exceptional growth opportunities, the challenges are equally discouraging. Therefore, banks should face the challenges optimistically make use of opportunities to make profit. The success in retail banking business depends on the kind of technology used the effectiveness of operations. This provides the banks an edge over their competitors. Furthermore, customer interest should be most important for becoming a responsible bank. The focus of this sector should not only remain to just increasing the per capita indebtedness but it should be in terms of creation of wealth at macro economical level. RECCOMENDATIONS The retail banking sector in India should adopt knowledge banking approach which is one of the differentiating strategies of Yes Bank who is among the top 10 innovative banks of the world. The focus should be there on sun rising sectors of economy like IT, Engineering, infrastructure logistics, food agriculture etc. These are sectors of economy have growth prospects. Banks should extend their operations to rural semi urban areas should have a responsible banking approach. This can be done by educating training people to avail the benefits of banking services which will not only help the banks in increasing their reputation but will also help them in long term perspective to increase the profits by tapping the untapped areas.

Young Goodman Brown :: essays research papers

Young Goodman Brown   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne was at first a boring read. However the more I read it and began to break it down by sections it was interesting. The short story was written in 1895 it deals with a man and testing his faith. Ultimately this story displays how betrayal can affect someone’s state of mind and actions.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The story begins with Goodman Brown and his wife Faith. Faith does not want her husband to leave for a midnight walk in the woods. Goodman Brown convinces Faith to let him leave. Little to Faith’s knowledge, her husband has just left to meet with the Devil. Goodman brown goes to this meeting because he knows his faith strong enough to withstand the Devils tricks.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Goodman Brown is the protagonist.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The most obvious antagonist is the Devil. The Devil wants Goodman Brown to follow him deeper into the woods and Brown is against that. The Devil wants Goodman Brown to take his staff, and he wants no part of that. Brown’s pride is what is keeping him there, after each time the Devil makes an attempt to convert Brown, he stays in the woods waiting for the next trick. When he should have left after the first couple of attempts.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  There were several conflicts that contributed to the climax of the story. The first conflict was between Goodman Brown and his wife Faith. Faith did not want Brown to leave. After he was half way into the woods, he thought that Faith might have been trying to protect him by keeping him at home. This is exhibited when Faith says â€Å"Dearest heart she whispered softly and rather sadly, when her lips were close to her ear, put off your journey until sunrise, and sleep in your own bed tonight............Pray, tarry with me this night, dear husband of all nights in the year!† Then Goodman Brown says â€Å"Methought as she spoke there was trouble in her face, as if a dream had warned her what work is to be done tonight!† The second conflict is that between the Devil and Young Goodman Brown. The Devils’ goal is to convert Goodman Brown from worshiping God to worshiping him. The Devil makes several attempts to get Brown on his team. The Devil tries to get Brown to take his staff â€Å"Come Goodman Brown! Cried his fellow traveler, this is a dull pace for the beginning of a journey.

What Is True Love

Charles Argument Essay Many people have wondered can true love last forever. I agree and disagree that true love can last forever because true love is how you feel and feelings can always change. True love is described in three words – infatuation, lust, and friendship/companionship. True love can be disproved by infatuation. Infatuation is temporary euphoric state of that is the research on blood chemistry when someone says they’ve â€Å"fallen in love† as stated by Bill Ferguson in his research â€Å"Studying the Science of Falling in Love. He says that love is a temporary state that people go through but it can at any point. Infatuation proves that true love can’t last forever because it’s a temporary state that express how a person feel for example when a person sayâ€Å"I’ve fallen in love† which can change at any point in a relationship. However, true love can last forever is expressed by friendship, or companionship. Friendship , or companionship if you will, is the one element of a love relationship that can, potentially, go on indefinitely as stated by Ferguson in â€Å"Studying the Science of Falling in Love. What Ferguson may have meant was that a truly in love couple is like a relationship that they enjoy being in company with so it has the potential to last forever. Friendship and companionship proves that true love can last forever because it is possible/capable to last forever Cofer’s essay â€Å"I feel in love, or my hormones awakened† supports Ferguson’s claim of infatuation and lust. For example, in her essay she says â€Å"Week after week I wandered up and down the aisles taking furtive glances at the stock room in the back, breathlessly hoping to see my prince. What this mean is that she was in love with a rich senior that every week she just hoped to see him in the stock room. Cofer’s essay proves that true love can’t last forever because she admired him a nd it can last forever because she wants to be with him but she holds it as a secret love.Cofer’s essay â€Å"I feel in love, or my hormones awakened† and Ferguson’s research â€Å"Studying the Science of Falling in Love† both states that true love can and can’t last orever by relating it to three words – infatuation, lust, and friendship. Both Cofer and Ferguson described that true love can last forever with lust and it can’t last forever with infatuation. Ferguson described that true love can last forever with friendship/companionship. These three words helped both Cofer and Ferguson decide if true love can last forever or not. Both stated that true love can and can’t last forever.
